HP Laptop won't turn on

My HP Pavilion Laptop turned off while I was using it, and hasn't been able to turn on since (about a week). The power button goes on for a second or two before turning off, and the fans and hard drive don't start up. Charging it or plugging it in doesn't seem to have an effect. A post on another forum with a similar issue suggested a battery problem, but I've replaced that battery and the issues persists. Is there something I can do, or do I need to take it into a professional. Should I just replace it?
